Grown in East Anglia, IFP, in partnership with TBG, bunch and wash a large proportion of the UK's fresh beetroot, which is available from June until October. The industry then traditionally switches to stored loose product which is available until March. Bunches for this period would traditionally be brought in from Portugal or Spain. This is due to the fact that product cannot be stored with foliage on. In 2006, we successfully grew a new variety, Golden Beetroot. This will be available commercially from late Summer 2007.
