LEAF''s 18th Birthday Celebrations
Produce World were pleased to be part of LEAF's 18th birthday celebrations, where David Prince and Andrew Burgess joined over a hundred other individuals from across the agricultural industry and attended the LEAF Gala Dinner at The Royal Overseas League in London on Tuesday 1st December 2009.
Produce World supplied a variety of produce for the event including Bellaverde, carrots (including Chantenay), parsnips, leeks, garlic, onions and red cabbage which were used in the production of the four course dinner.
World renowned Chef and Restaurateur Raymond Blanc joined LEAF for its Gala Dinner and Charity Auction and spoke about the importance of food provenance, local and seasonal food, taste and soil, then applauded Produce World's carrots and bellaverde.
Produce World were mentioned also, to be one of the early adopters of LEAF and of course we were thanked in the Annual Review for our support in funding LEAF's work over the last year. We also published a group advert in the LEAF annual review.
David Prince said "It was hugely entertaining to see and hear the passion for LEAF and all it stands for from Raymond Blanc".
Produce World have gained some good coverage from this event. and it has been a great opportunity for the group to yet again demonstrate its commitment to the cause, and well done to everyone who has played a part in supporting LEAF over the last year, from Open Farm Sunday to the Gala Dinner Event.

Food and Drink iNet Innovation Award Winners 2009
At the Food and Drink iNet Innovation Awards 2009, held in Leicester on Tuesday 17th November, the Food Processing Faraday Award for Most Innovative Large Food and Drink Manufacturer went to Marshalls (part of the Produce World Group), Butterwick, Boston, for the development of bellaverdeŽ sweet stem broccoli, that was launched in July 2009, and created in conjunction with Seminis.
