Who We Are

R B Organic was set up in 2000 to pack and market a range of organic produce to a wide consumer base. As most people buy their produce in a supermarket, R B Organic supplies what the modern organic customer needs when and where they need it.

Operating 364 days a year to maintain constant supply to our customers - a typical day starts with an early harvest, mid-morning wash and an afternoon pack according to the supermarkets orders. We despatch throughout the day and evening to ensure our products are as fresh as possible on the supermarket shelves the following day.

Sales of organics have risen progressively over the recent years. To match this growth we have invested in our people and machinery to improve product handling, improve efficiencies and reduce costs.

Our Growers

We are supplied with organic vegetables by a dedicated group of Growers who have been with us since the company started. They have been on the same journey as us and have also invested steadily in growing their organic land bank. They are geographically spread around the country to ensure we can maintain supply despite seasonal or weather variations.

Organic rotations are typically 7 years which include 2 years where the land lays fallow building up the soil fertility naturally. This means the land can only grow carrots once in seven years and alternative organic crops need to be planned in for the other years.

Our Growers run a Growers Council, representing all the growers supplying RB Organic, and which works with us to plan the growing programme, plan and execute the harvesting, manage the research and development work undertaken on their farms, and resolve any issues.

The Environment We Work In

Being faithful to the philosophy and ideals of organic farming we are committed to do all we can to protect the environment around us. This includes energy saving, recycling, reducing landfill and eliminating the use of chemicals.

Demonstrating this successfully is our Reed Bed Water Cleaning System that has replaced a chemical treatment plant. This process uses a settlement lagoon and 2 sets of reed beds to clean the soil from the wash line water and return it to the best standard prior to discharge.

The Green TeamOur "Green Team" are working towards a goal of zero to landfill by the end of 2009. We now segregate our waste into plastic for recycling, compostable packaging, cardboard, food waste and wood. The remaining waste currently destined for landfill is being analysed to see if we can find a way of recycling or eliminating it altogether.

Our plans for the future include a wind powered generator and solar panels to reduce our reliance on electricity derived from fossil fuels.

The Community

We are also keen on developing our links with the community by supporting local schools and sports teams and we are the proud sponsor of the Yaxley Under 9's football team
