Specialist Advice to Growers
Solanum develops extremely close relationships with both growers and customers, fostering mutual consultation and co-operation, and thereby ensuring that we can respond quickly to changes in customer specifications. This enables us to offer specialist advice to growers and ensure that changes in demand and product developments can be easily accommodated. Naturally, help and advice from our agronomy team is available at any time - all growers have to do is call or email for an immediate response.
Solanum Supplier Group Membership
We are continually looking for new growers to join our Supplier Group. The company want to underline that it is not a closed shop, and quality growers are always welcome to make contact. We actively encourage customer-focused work, with different farmers growing for different customers.
Regular Crop Quality Assessment
Crops are monitored throughout the production process by our own in-house teams and via external audits to ensure Solanum's high standards of quality are maintained at all times. All our growers have to follow stringent growing and quality control methods. The Company's highly experienced procurement team maintain full control over all sources ensuring strict Quality Assurance requirements are being adhered to.
Instant Feedback on Delivered Quality
Rapid inspection of loads is carried out by trained Q C personnel and details of delivered quality are immediately fed back to the supplier. In addition, all details are maintained on our state-of-the-art supplier database.
Newsletter
Growers are kept up to date with developments in Solanum and are given regular expert agronomy advice through the Solanum Group Newsletter.
Caring for the Environment
We have developed a co-ordinated approach to environmental management across both farming and processing operations. Solanum believe that as part of our commitment to growing trust within the community, we must ensure everyone is doing whatever they can to promote environmental enhancement with our grower supply base and directly across all processing sites.
This years event has been described by LEAF as “the best yet!”. Over 400 farmers across the country opened up and early reports indicate that nearly 150,000 members of the public visited a local farm on 1st June. A full report will be issued by LEAF later in the year…but in the meantime here is our very own Produce World report. Produce World Ltd, currently growing and marketing organic and conventional fresh produce, has acquired Marshalls Holdings Ltd, a group of companies that includes Marshall Bros (Butterwick) Ltd and a 76% holding in Agromark SA, in a deal agreed and completed last night.
