We have a well-equipped potato packing operation at Sutton Bridge in south Lincolnshire, which has several large temperature controlled stores, together with spacious production facilities which are able to accommodate any size or weight packing denomination.
In our factory you will find packing teams committed to the highest standards at every stage of the production process.
Solanum is King from a potatoes point of view!
After arriving on site, every load is sampled and checked for quality before being offloaded into immediate chilled storage to retain product freshness.
The next step is to gently warm the potatoes to an ideal temperature and to sort them by size: too cold and we can bruise them!
Then comes the washing phase: we carefully wash every potato until they are clean from any soil residue.
Finally they are ready to pack, but not before a final and continuous quality check, as every potato passes over our grading tables prior to being packed, stacked and despatched to our customers ...... FRESH.
This years event has been described by LEAF as “the best yet!”. Over 400 farmers across the country opened up and early reports indicate that nearly 150,000 members of the public visited a local farm on 1st June. A full report will be issued by LEAF later in the year…but in the meantime here is our very own Produce World report. As proud sponsors of the 2008 Open Farm Sunday event I would like to share with everyone the day’s successes, and give a great BIG thank you to everyone who took part…THANK YOU!.
